Billy The Untold Story of a Young Billy Graham and the Test of Faith that Almost Changed Everything by William Paul McKay and Ken Abraham is a wonderful portrayal of the life of an amazing man of God. I grew up watching Billy Graham specials on TV with my mother and grandmother. You can imagine that I never saw him as anything but America’s minister so to view the personal struggles that made him the man he is today was very interesting. Billy Graham was someone I thought I knew a lot about but now that I have read this I realize I did not really know who he is. The story takes you on a parallel journey through the lives of Charles Templeton and Billy Graham beginning in their youth as they travel two different roads. Charles Templeton a professed atheist and best friend to Billy Graham tells the story of Billy’s life from his death bed. The story takes you through Billy’s years at college, his courtship of Ruth Graham and his own struggles with faith to the completion of his calling.
Billy will make you laugh and cry but it will mostly make you realized what a great man Billy Graham is. I know that the movie did not come to my town but I am grateful I was able to read the biography. There is not a lack of information about Billy Graham but this biography is different from others on the market. At times the dialog seemed slightly preachy but other all I really enjoyed this biography.
