Do you have goals for the new year?

How many of us get trapped into setting New Year resolution which we don't fulfill by the end of the year? With the lack of accomplishing them we add guilt to our lives and a sense of failure. I am not falling into that trap this year. I am not saying I am not going to set goals for the next year but with every goal I set I am going to have a plan to accomplish it.

I'll start with the weight issue. I am not the only person on the planet that wants to be a smaller size and just to be PC I want it for health reasons. And it wouldn't hurt to look cute in clothes that right now would look ridiculous on me. But vanity aside, I will say this is a goal for 2009. Now, to make myself accountable I have to decide how I am going to accomplish this lofty goal.
First, I am working out for 30 minutes five days a week. Doesn't sound like a lot but when I was running (okay walking with a hop) it sure seemed like a lot. I have also started eating breakfast. I have never been a breakfast eater but I keep reading that it is suppose to speed up the illusive metabolism and help to get fit. I'll keep everyone posted I know you are all going to be biting your nails in anticipation of me becoming the stunning woman God intend me to be.

My next goal is to stay committed to my writing. I am committing time to writing daily.Okay I have writing it in black and white so now it has to be fulfilled right? I have to discover when the best time of day for me is. I am certain it is not when my kiddos are underfoot begging for me to turn off the cyber-sister and pay attention to them. I have set up a time clock where I am going to clock in and out daily to keep me focused on dedicating time to my craft. I also am determined to study the writing craft reading at least one book a month on writing. So that should be twelve by the end of the year. I'll share what I learn here on my blog.

Of course, I am also challenging myself to spend more quality time in studying the Bible. I was talking to one of my son's friends about reading the Bible. I am ashamed to say that I haven't read the entire Bible. I have my favorite books and shy away from others. I was thinking about all the great wisdom and insight into my Father that I am missing. So this year, I am going to read through the Bible. I found a great site from one of the loops. This is the site http://www.ewordtoday.com/ Go check it out if you are searching for a way to read through the Bible. The site offers several different ways to do it.

I also want to increase the activity on my blog and develop it into something more meaningful. This year has been a learning year. I had never blogged before and have fallen in love with it. The community of friends I have gained is wonderful. If you have suggestions of what you would like to see more of on Write by Faith I am all ears or I guess eyes.

Goals are important to set for our lives. We teach children to set small and large goals and goals are important for adults too. Don't let past failures stand in your way of accomplishing your goals and dreams. Be sure to set a plan and then work toward accomplishing them. I hope you are dreaming big and setting a plan to accomplish everything you desire. Remember all things are possible with God so before setting your goals spend sometime with the Master Planner.

Happy New Year, Donna!
I would like you to encourage you in the goals you have set for yourself.
I agree with having them, but with the goal I set I usually always have to have a timeframe in which to do it. You have just this year so far in your time frame. I'm cheering you on!
Breakfast is important. I tried not eating breakfast also for quite awhile. Thought I was helping myself. Then, I had to see a Dr twice, with about a month in between for some silly (ha) thing and at the first visit the Dr said to eat breakfast so I tried it. You might imagine the shock I got when I had LOST a few pounds! Now I eat breakfast and I don't mean a small bowl of cereal. We have meat, egg, sometimes bread and sometimes potato, sometimes fruit, I drink hot tea instead of coffee and sometimes juice. Sometimes we add other things to it. I'm not talking large portions but nice variety. Then the noon meal is not so big portion wise but hearty full meal and almost nothing for the evening.
The pants that were tight on me has inches in them to spare!
I've not been back to the Dr yet but hope the scales confirm the looser clothes. Hang in there, have fun, and shrink to fit some of those clothes you want to wear.
