Description:
Having earned her chef’s hat, Lexi Stuart bids au revoir to her glamorous and deliciously satisfying pastry mentorship outside of Paris and returns to her hometown of Seattle, Washington. There, she finds life unexpectedly complicated. She’s put in charge of a high-end catering bakery called Bijoux, which should be her dream job, but there’s a catch: She has to make this lavish bakery into a successful business in just a few, short months, which will require more than her ability to make an amazing wedding cake. Stir in a complicated relationship with her French beau Philippe and his daughter, Celine, then add a dash of romance with down-to-earth lawyer Dan, and life suddenly contains more ooh la la than Lexi can handle.
IMHO:
Let me first start by saying I haven't read the first two books in the French Twist Series which probably makes a difference in my understanding of this novel. I loved the chick-lit writing style and I did enjoy reading the novel. However, this isn't a book I would recommend reading without first reading the others. Throughout the beginning of the novel I kept wondering how the characters fit together. Byrd does include background information but I never felt I understood some of the motivations for the characters which I am sure were shared in the previous two books. Now with that said I have to say I love Byrd's writing style and I plan on going and reading the other two novels in the series. It has the classic love triangle with a french twist. haha! If you like chick-lit and are looking for a light read I would recommend this novel but I feel that the novel would be enjoyed even more if you have read all of the other books in the series.
Here is a link to Sandra Byrd's site and all of the novels in this series are available to purchase. http://www.sandrabyrd.com/adult.htm

Donna...
You're exactly right about needing to read the first two. This is not a good series to read out of order. With that said, I assure you that you'll love the first 2 books! I cannot wait until she writes her next adult series...although I may have to start looking for her YA novels to get me through until then!
i've read the other books....and i'm on sandra's review list. i can't wait!
I wanted to let you know about my blog address change. *sigh* If you're following me, my posts now won't show up in your feed, dashboard, sidebar, whatever. So please forgive me, but you'll have to change the address for my main writing blog, Where Romance Meets Therapy, to http://jeanniecampbell.blogspot.com. To do this, you have to "unfollow" me and follow me again. Sorry for the confusion!
