Review of The Unfinished Gift.

I love Christmas novels and this one is going to be added to my favorite list. I cried and cried at every turn while reading this novel so be sure to have your tissue handy when reading it. Dan Walsh did a great job on his debut novel The Unfinished Gift. He captures the heart of his reader with an incredible tale of forgiveness and the importance of family. The novel is historical fiction and the story is so wonderful you are pulled right in and you forget it was set during WWII. I loved this novel. Thanks you Donna Hausler at Revell books for giving me a copy of this book.

From Revell:

The Unfinished Gift begins a week before Christmas in 1943, and readers meet Patrick Collins, a seven-year-old boy who has been thrust into a heartwrenching situation: His mother has just died in a car accident and the Army cannot find his father, a bomber pilot off at war. Armed with only the memories his mother taught him before she died about life and faith, Patrick has nowhere else to turn but to live with his grandfather whom he has never met.

As he struggles with his grief and tries to adjust to his new life, there are only three requests on Patrick’s Christmas list this year: He wants the army to find his father. He wants to leave his grandfather’s house. And, for reasons even he doesn’t understand, he wants the toy soldier that’s tucked away in his grandfather’s attic.

The title of your post is wrong. Should say Unfinished Gift not story.
